About The Event

Susan Klein invites you to explore the intersections of nature, femininity, and personal strength. Delve into the world of adventurous women who, like Susan, have found fortitude, inspiration, and joy in the embrace of nature.   Through captivating stories and vivid images, Susan will illuminate the transformative power of embarking on a journey of one’s own, both metaphorically and literally. From Simone de Beauvoir to Georgia O’Keefe, discover how these remarkable women broke free from cultural constraints to nurture their own spirits.   Additionally, Susan will share stunning photographs of her 13-day, 272-kilometer trek along the Chemin de Stevenson, a route immortalized by Robert Louis Stevenson in Travels with Donkey in the Cévennes.

About the Presenter :  An avid outdoor adventurer and athlete, Susan's pursuits include summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, trekking in the Everest region, rowing the Canal du Midi, and competing in international rowing and sailing regattas. In 2005-06, she sailed across the Atlantic and the Mediterranean from New England to Turkey with her husband and then-teenage sons aboard their 12-meter sailboat.  Susan has had long careers in journalism, investor relations, and TESOL. She holds a master’s degree in journalism and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
