Women, Nature, and the Transformative Power of Long-Distance Treks
As an avid outdoor adventurer and athlete, Susan's pursuits include summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, trekking in the Everest region, rowing the Canal du Midi, and competing in international rowing and sailing regattas. In 2005-06, she sailed across the Atlantic and the Mediterranean from New England to Turkey with her husband and then-teenage sons aboard their 12-meter sailboat. Susan has had long careers in journalism, investor relations, and TESOL. She holds a master’s degree in journalism and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley.
During her presentation, she explored the intersections of nature, femininity, and personal strength. Susan led us on a captivating journey as she shared empowering narratives of extraordinary women who found strength, resilience, and creativity through long-distance walking routes.
